shooter69:The purity of silver is gauged from 99.9% to 99.99999% with 99.99999% being the cleanest but also the most expensive. If that makes an audible difference, god only knows.

Theres more to purity than being oxygen free

Silver isn't gauged as oxygen free as it has no reaction to it. It can though have other impurities (depending on the purity) like Lead, Copper and Iron amongst others.

Silver does oxidise, but it apparantly doesnt effect its electrical properties

Doesn't it have to be a chemical though?

I'm off to study!

.

A quick update before i do!

Silver doesn't react directly to oxygen only with chemical assistance.

Copper does.

Cheers

Silver does readily react with sulphur in the air though, creating 'silver sulphide'

Tarquinh:Sulphur isn't a gas, Rick.

If were to be pedantic, there are traces of sulphur dioxide in the atmosphere. Silver does react with sulphur dioxide

I feel were drifting off topic now though

You mean hydrogen sulphide perhaps?

But yes, definitely off topic.

cheers for the advice guys

Got myself a Van den Hul The name IC and also a Chord superscreen power cable, noticing a difference for the better, bass seems a lot more controlled and more enjoyable sound altogether, Midrange is clearer and brought out more, soundstage is also better, think thats me 99% happy with the sound now....
