Morning everyone — I’m looking to upgrade from a Musical Fidelity M3Si. I need an amp with around 80–200W per channel to drive my ATC SCM11s properly in a mid sized room. My budget is about US$2,800. Any recommendations I should try before I go auditioning? Thanks!

How about Musical Fidelity M5si or M6si??
ATC's own integrated amplifier is outside your budget.

You could consider the Rega Aethos second hand. Maybe you can find a dealer closer to home.

I think the person part exchanged it for the Atoll IN400 EVO £5.5K, now that's an amp that makes me salivate like a droopy Mastiff.

🙂

Hi, just to add power on side of amp doesn't solve anything. What do you miss in sound from your current setup?
Musical Fidelity M3Si is one of best amps in its category. If budget will allow, active version of ATC will sound better, more precise. But you need truly outstanding source and preamp. Active ATC speakers are happy driven also by very good tube preamps. Something like Audio Research LS 26 will be realy good, also used one. ATC need lively comanding amp like Naim Audio Supernait 2, 3 or Rega Aethos or even Rega Elicit mk4 or mk5 will work well here. Musical Fidelity is a bit laid back, but not bad, jist different. Depending on your preferences and budget.

I was wondering that, it also has decent current delivery and should be ample for SCM11's.
Admittedly more power and current delivery should help control them even better but how noticeable it will be is pure guesswork.
Yes, it is 8 ohm nominal with quite flat impedance curve. It is more about quality of amp than watts or kilograms (pounds)😆. And room is midsize I saw above. May be he can just try other speakers. Something like Proac Studio 118. They are more lively with more punch and without need for many ampers. But not so neutral like ATC. They were direct competitors for ATC 11. I have a friend using ATC 40 columns with old Tag McLaren Pre/power (Audiolab with tuning). Sounding not bad either. BR.

It is possible your starting to just not really like the analytical presentation of the ATC's anymore and crave a different sound, I'm not a fan myself, so, as others have mentioned I'd change the speakers to more suit the amplifier....and those scm11 speakers can be quite demanding of amplification to really get the best from them.
