Just arrived. Later this morning I'll be able to hear some records.

Turn up the wick and get ready for some "Shock and Awe"....provided it's not Richard Clayderman! ...maybe come Pink Floyd or (even better), some Infected Mushroom. *dance4*

An hour of Infected Mushroom can can leave you exhausted....like 9 rounds with Mike Tyson.....a little different to your usual fare.

You might also like Yello and Ott (if you don't already).

I can imagine lol!

I've got an album by VCMG very much along the same lines, but you are right, not my usual fair, I think the Harbs wondered what hit them, one minute playing some gentle acoustic, then IM hit them!

Enjoying Ott, For Children too.

Essential Yello is a favorite of mine....full of tracks you've heard before, but not necessarily associated with Yello (unless a fan). It's beautifully recorded (given its 25 years old).

Got it. Excellent CD *good*

Having spent an hour earlier today with the vinyl it's deeply impressive. No doubt a much better TT will yield much better results. However, even with a cheapo deck the layers of various intruments is obvious, regardless of genre. (Sorry Cno, no Clayderman in my collection).

First to play is an album called 'The Big Wheels Of Motown', compilation of most of the famous tracks from the 60s and 70s. Isley Brothers 'This ole Heart Of Mine' sounds sensational. The harmonies are so holographic and immediate. That set the tone for whole album. Superb.

Joan Armatrading's 'Whatever's For Us' album is a revelation. The title track packs so much emotion: The sound just ebbs and flows on a joyous roller coaster ride. Dynamic are well... dynamic.

Played parts of various other albums and the Tucana oozes subtlety with hairy-chested muscle.

Currently listening to Craig Charles Soul and Funk Show on BBC Radio 6.

The Pulse is a wonderful amp but the Tucana takes that experience much higher up the chain. Thus far no real faults in the Tucana's SQ or ergonomics.

Report back in a few days.

... or anyone who has experience with Electro Classic range

Seem to recall a really good combo (think it was from 'Stereophile review) was an Electro amp with Leema Antilla CDP and TB2s.

Flip that around, wonder what a Tucana and an Electro CDP from the classic range would sound like?

I know I said no Scandanavian products, so I'm just curious.

IMO. If considering an Electro CDP, there should only be one on your radar....and that's the EMC 1UP....it has no peers at its price and will give a powerful, detailed and organic quality to your system, that will be almost as big a revelation as your amp was (though in a subtler way). Your system is now ready for a really high quality source.

You have the chance to hear one at Mac's place.

I like your thinking!

Strangely Mark, Mrs. P has been pretty quiet on the amp, almost blase.

Anyway, I think this'll be my last upgrade (amp, forthcoming TT and possibly a CDP). I'll keep it until it drops. After that, who knows? Definitely a downgrade (in size) to something like active speakers, where you just click and play... but this won't be for many, many years.

Apologies for the detour, PP, but does anyone know who is importing Electrocompaniet into the UK because the distribution seems a bit erratic, to put it mildly.

Sorry to go back a few pages but does anyone know if Leema's new Pulse IV is the new name for the Quasar or are they separate products?

I'd still really like a Tucana 2, although they're a bit hard to find S/H, so should yours not quite meet with your requirements PP I'd be delighted to make you a very unreasonable offer to take it off your hands *wink*

@Diamond Joe

The Quasar was originally going to be the Pulse IV, but became a separate product (a streaming amp).

The Pulse IV announced recently is an amplifier (less powerful than the Quasar) with Bluetooth, analogue and digital inputs and a high quality phono input based on the Elements phono stage.

I see, that's good, it looks like an interesting amp, thanks for that tino *biggrin*

Umm...erm... [pause]...erm... NO. *biggrin*

What amp and speakers do you have, Joe?
Haha, just pullin' yer leg m8

I've got a slightly ancient Audiolab 8000A powering Neat Motive 2s, bit of a mismatch I guess but it sounds pretty good to my ears, I do have an itch (and I've had it for a while) to replace the Audiolab - the poor old thing's 25 years old now *shok*

Have you ever considered a Leema Antilla II CD player to go with the Tucana? It'd be nice to have the matching pair.

Listening to Infected mushroom on Harbeth speakers just seems wrong to me. Classical, yes. Rock, yeah sure why not? But Infected Mushroom?

It's a bit like catching the queen listening to heavy metal at high volume. It just seems inappropriate somehow.
