Hi.

I started a forum yesterday asking for advice about amps for my speakers: (These = http://www.polkaudio.com/tsx110b/d/1049)

Will this amp support these speakers nicely? Or are they too low of a wattage per channel?

All advice is appreciated 🙂

Andy.

The problem is that nobody really will know those speakers. And even then, nobody knows exactly all the details of those speakers (impedance curves for example).

If the speaker don't decend under 4 ohms of impedance and that you don't have a giant room, and that you don't listen on a too high level ; then yes, it's suited. But the amp, for me, looks like a very old one. Do you have pictures of the inside ? Do you have a guarantee on that ? Could it be repaired in case of failure ? Those are important questions you will need to have an answer on before bidding.

Hi Andy, why this new thread? Looks like we're starting all over again...

You got plenty of advice in the other thread. Maybe you could state which suggestions you consider useful and which you don't want to pursue (actives, upping the budget, AV-receiver, second hand, ...)? So we can tell you what you want to hear...*wink*

Big thing to watch on those entry-level Cambridge amps - very poor channel balance at low volume levels. It was a scourge of all the A-series amplifiers, as well as the current Topaz models and the early examples of the Azur range - probably the reason why they made such a big deal about the improved volume control on the later Topaz models offering superior channel balance. If you don't listen at low volume levels it won't bother you, but if you do it might stop you enjoying your music.

Had the same issue very annoying

Just to correct a typo in my last post - was under pressure at the time of typing!

It was the later AZUR amplifiers (650A, 550A, 350A and after) that had the improved volume control to address channel balance at low levels.

Entry level Polk speakers are quite bright. They sound agressive on highes. If I were you I would purchase sweeter amps than Cambridige's to achieve a tonal balance.

It's been long time since I last heard a NAD's amp (I don't know the newer models) but all the models I heard before 2008 were mellower than Cambridge's. That will likely to help "cut the edges" of your Poks.
