Not quite, I listen to all mentioned and even used to attend the Wigan Casino... Northern Soul et al. Still find plenty of space for classical, opera, jazz, etc.

Like some reggae (Steel Pulse, Culture/Dennis Bovell, some Marley), some funk (Funkadelic, George Clinton, early Prince) and Northern Soul was more my thing - Wigan Casino, etc.

I love Soul, Funk and Reggae. 1967-1973 was the best period for both Soul and Funk, though obviously, some great records were made before and after those years. A lot of stuff gets included with Reggae, but both Ska and Rocksteady are very different, and I probably prefer these to Reggae.

Anybody who thinks they don't like funk, think again. Try these for starters:-

Great stuff! Influenced some newer artists like this. Can't stand looking at the little geek but it's pure power.

I used to listen to a soul show on Radio Orwell in the late 80's when I lived near Ipswich, I think the DJ was Buster Brooker (who turned out to be a bit of a rogue!) but I haven't listened to much recently, although I do catch Craig Charles' show every now and then. I really must listen to more, thanks for the prompt PP 8)

Cheers DJ, I used to live in Bury St.Edmunds back in the day and I've just had a massive flashback!
