I wont be surprised if you would end up with AVI and change your Avatar!

No! I like amps to much, I have recomended them to my Mum though she wants a simple system and is looking at the Muso so i sugested the AVI's. Forgeting all the politics I'm sure they sound brilliant.

OK Thomas Abrahamsen sent me a mail pointing me to check a certain board, looks like the output stage driver board. And yes after removing 10 allen bolts and removing the substantial lid, yes the board was hanging out of its connector, pushed it back on and hey presto all working! I didn't even leave it 2 days to discharge before working on it!! All well that ends well, thank you for sharing the pain.

When I read that the amp was not working my heart sank and I really felt your frustration , but now it's been sorted out I can't wait for your thoughts and a review .

I have everything crossed that you will love it and hope you agree that your heavy Norwegian lump will be more than just a door stop ! *biggrin*

Electro I love you, what an inspired find! It has everthing the Sugden had and then some more. Its got a sence of fun.Unless I resort too review speak mode, its just more enjoyable, fun, addictive, to listen too. Its a keeper and they say it needs 96 hours to burn in and 2 hours from cold to sound its best! I don't care it sounds awsome as it is. As I had the very thick lid off, here are some pics of the very well made guts mainly for Vlad! Im going to give you a Cliche later but it actually happened and it involves a Mrs ****** on ther way out to taking the Miss Boggits, sorry iQ's to Guides and walking past my room with Lily and Madeline blaring out.

I am so happy for you *yahoo* .

Per Abrahamsen is a genius isn't he *biggrin* , now you understand why I love my Electrocompaniet amps so much and also why I try and persuade as many people as possible to try the the Abrahamsen Amps , they are an absolute bargain and imo there is nothing that comes close even if you spend many times more.

But I don't need to tell you that do I *biggrin*

Genius, Electro that's an understatement. I'm really gobsmacked. After the upgrade from the Leema to the Sugden and being a little underwhelmed by the improvement, I was siding on the Alan Shaw view of amps. However this thing is brilliant It goes to almost full volume with little distortion, all the bass remains tight with no bloating, the huge soundstage remains intact and just gets more and more intense. I just raced through my playlists enjoying every minute. All this without a decent source at this moment. Bernsie, there is no hint of sibilance, none. I forgot you had SA1's they should not be the problem and forget the suggestion of the PMC's as It will be more of a side step. Have you picked up the CD player?

It is The case must be 3mm thick with a superb crackle finish. The badge on top is gold and rivited in place. Yes the inside looks neat and the components are really good quality. The looks my not be for everybody. The remote is bespoke heavy metal thing. It just sounds sublime it wipes the floor with the Sugden!

I very much doubt it, people wont take the chance, will doubt my findings. I think the chance of them supporting me in selling them in the UK is very slim. Plus the buying experience was awful non existant they dont even take credit cards. I really dont know what is going on there end but it seems well mickey mouse, you can not get an answer from the telephone number, its a shame.

This is the one fly in the ointment and to be honest it is very reminicent of the old days of Electrocompaniet distribution especially to the UK .

Perhaps you could team up with Vladimir and offer Per Abrahamsen a more proffessional marketing and distribution solution . *biggrin*

This is what happened to Electrocompaniet in 2004 when they were bought by Westcontrol Norway.

Westcontrol reorganised everything and the sales went through the roof, the only down side has been a considerable increase in price .

This reminds me of when I compared a Sugden Masterclass pre amp / stereo power amp against the Electrocompaniet EC4.7 pre / AW120 stereo power amp on a home demo many years ago, the Electro's were so much better it was almost unbelievable, they were in a different league and what made it even better was the Electro's were less that half the price of the Sugden's .*smile*

Nice to hear you like your new acquisition.

You are of course right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The problem with the sibilance was caused by the Audiolab, I ended up buying the Linn Majik DS and I am really happy with the sound and it made me realise what a cracking amp the Abrahamsen is. I had a good session yesterday with the CD player(UP version). It is built as well as the amp and the remote control is exactly the same, it sounds very good for the price(£530 delivered) although the Linn does beat it hands down with revealing the finer details.

The SA-1s with the Abrahamsen does sound good but upgradeitis is on me and I am starting to look for new speakers and hopefully within the next month I will start to demo some to see where it takes me.

I never had any problems ordering from them but I can understand why people will be put off, especially with the problems you have had. I am very happy that I took the chance on the amp and by what you are saying you are too but a better distribution and return service would have people knocking their door down.
