Not being flippant (those who kinda know online me will realise it's not in my nature) but are you buying the entire system blind/deaf without actually demoing anything.

A demo to actually hear things is rule number one in the deciding on what hifi is right.
Not unlike a new car it's the test drive of the hifi world, the trying on of a shoe.

With a healthy budget the results can be exponential joy or a disappointing flustraightion.

It's a potential mistake made very apt by it happening to member only recently here and to me once or twice despite the old convincing of myself I liked them to try and avoid both
mistake and disappointment

You started right by compiling a shortlist list with help from the right crowd here but I'm not sure with that budget it's wise buying on others people's preferences and written reviews alone. 🤔 maybe I've missed something

why elac why not dynaudio evoke 20 , kef r3 meta or dali rubicon 2 or rubikore 2 ?
elac vela bs403.2 hands down miles better than all you mentioned. evoke 20 is underwhelming overall, overprice to be honest. dali high frequency is terrible and harsh. I tested all especially the rubicore and evoke20. rubicore is just like bad tasting beer. and I enjoy my 25 yrs single malt and burgundy

I went for a NAD C399/BluOS-Dirac + Elac Vela 403.2 + Elac RS500 wireless. I know, a sub is overkill but I love bass a lot!!
Thank you all for your help and advices !!!
I just got bs403.2 as well...glad you enjoy the nad c399 pairing. I am looking for an amp for the vela. thanks for sharing your setup

Sounds like everyone else should just pack up and go home...

I have almost the same amp en setup. so i will add the Elac Vela also to my list for speakers i am going to test. The very compact size is what i want for my setup. (depth Vela is 210mm)
How old is this Vela 403.2 speaker? Seems like a good speaker when i read the reviews.

  • Elac Vela BS 403.2 - 2000€ - 2-way 6,00" - 190 x 210 - 150cm cone - 4ohm (warm + deep bass+ naturel sound)

  • M.A. Gold 50 6G - 2000€ - 2-way 6,00" - 185 x 270 - 150cm cone - 4ohm (clear + fast bass + good attack)

  • Spendor A1.2 - 2000€ - 2-way 6,00" - 165 x 185 - 150cm cone - 8ohm (No deep bass + good voices + not to bright)

Look, I haven't trawled through all the posts here. But I don't think anyone here offered much common sense. If you want big bass, get 2 smaller speakers that work well against the wall, or that you can possibly bring out if you have a little space, AND A SUBWOOFER.

Hi, you are terribly wrong. Evoke 20 or even Special 40 are very good bookshelf speakers from Dynaudio. BUT they need high quality system to show, what they are capable of. Dali are class leaders as well and they keep regular improvements. "Rubicore is just like bad tasting beer". I must smile reading this. Pls. think about where, on which web you are posting. This is not Tik Tok.

I tried special 40 and evoke 20 paired with hegel h190v2, did not impress me, in fact i still prefer spendor 2 series paired with hegel.....dali class leaders based on what? seem that you have difficulties in understanding analogy. granted, not eveybody is that bright

agree on subwoofer...but i think also some speaker does not really work well near wall. I tried sonus faber sonetto ii and linn majik 119, they become boomy once placed against the wall. that's also mainly both are rear ported. not saying all rear ported can't be placed near wall, but it can be tricky

No, it is different story. You spit fire without any argument and comparison. Your second reply has more sense. At least you mention amp on whitch you made comparisons. To be honest, Hegel amp is very good among dac equiped amps or streaming amps. But there are several pure analogue amps that are better for this price. Like Rega Aethos, Supernait 3 for example. These are class leaders. To make such general statements that you did you must use real class leading equipment and mention room size, equipment, music, acoustic treatment, cabling, listening position. Otherwice it has no added value.
