Hey I bought a hdmi thundebolt for my mac and a long HDMI and ethernet and everything works great, it says it supports DTS MA and Dolby True HD, but when I play these file types it only shows up as PCM, and the sound is not that great.

Anyone got any ideas, do I need to ammend something on the amp or the macbook.

Thanks so much.

Just to get this straight - you've purchased a cable which connects your Macbook's Thunderbolt port to the HDMI port on your Pioneer - is that right? (bit confused by the "long HDMI and ethernet" comment). If so, are the files you're playing files which include a DTS MA or Dolby TrueHD track?

Need a bit more detail really, as not very clear what you're trying to do. Essentially, all you should need is the Mac connected direct into the amp via the display cable, then set the Mac to output via HDMI under System Preferences > Sound > Output. Ensure the Pioneer is in the right mode to receive the HD soundtracks i.e. same mode as you use for Blu-rays, and that should be it I think.
