I would put And Then There Were Three as my least fav album but Down and Out and Deep In The Motherlode are a couple of my most fav tracks.

There are some ropey tracks on this album but absolutely 'Down and Out' is just stunning, it has everything, the build up is great, it has good drive and the finish is just genius. For me, having just lost long standing members to then release an album with this track at the start is just a massive statement proving how legendary they are.

Really tough question - If I asked my self the same question next week I'd probably give a different answer!

Yeah same here. I would say mostly what music I listen to is dictated by what mood im in at the time.

Great 10. On a different day, 6 of these could have been in one of my top tens (I can't remember but I think one or two of them will be!)

I'm torn between Alligator & Boxer as the National's finest, but if I had to choose, it'd be Alligator.

I'd take Death Cab For Cutie's Plans just ahead of Transatlanticism too, fantastic album. Some genius songwriting

Silent Alarm; Bloc Party at their rawest, and best. One of the best debut albums in the last 30 years for me

Yeah I would probably go with alligator too but fake empire is a classic (and was my wedding song!). I could happily listen to death cab's albums all day, I would say we have the facts and we're voting yes is right up there too.

Here it is. The list you`ve all been waiting for...

All time top 10

1. Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf (Jim and Meat and Todd Rundgren combine to devastating effect)

2. Bad For Good - Jim Steinman/Rory Dodd (credit were credit`s due for R.Dodd)

3. A Night At The Opera - Queen (you could take off Bohemian Rhapsody and it would still be a great album)

4. A Trick Of The Tail - Genesis (`Entangled`, `Mad Man Moon` and `Ripples` all on the same album. Gosh.)

5. Hotel California - The Eagles (a lot of talent in just one band)

6. In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson (never foget the first time I heard this)

7. Freedom At Point Zero - Jefferson Starship (somewhere inbetween the hippy phase and the glossy phase they got it just right)

8. Darkness On The Edge Of Town - Bruce Springsteen (just edges it from `The River` I`d say)

9. Highway To Hell - AC/DC (Bon`s final and finest hour)

10. And Then There Were Three - Genesis ( to lose Gabriel and then Hackett and still come up with this was astonishing. Surprisingly underrated)

Current top 10

Ghost On The Canvas - Glen Campbell (Glen still sounding great)

The Lions Roar - First Aid Kit (can`t get enough of this band)

Raised On Radio - Journey (never off my mp3 player)

Far Beyond These Castle Walls - Chris De Burgh (master story teller)

Aura - Asia (superbly produced)

Living With The Ancients - Blood Ceremony (you can`t beat a bit of pagan/cult metal!)

Here At The Mayflower - Barry Manilow (none of his hits on this one but for me his best all round album)

A Pagan Place - The Waterboys (`Red Army Blues` still gets me everytime)

The Ghost Moon Orchestra - Mostly Autumn (welcome return to form)

Vauxhall And I - Morrissey (Morrissey always puts a smile on my face)

Ha! Yes, it`s a blessing and a curse I`d say. Never thought when I was younger I`d one day get into Sinatra or Fairport Convention but your tastes can certainly change/develop.

As you can imagine Freddy, I like your avatar!

Let me indulge... David Silvian and Sakamoto, a tune that touches my soul. No doubt it will be shunned by some, but if one person likes it... :)

Here's this week's tricky ten, in no particular order:-

Julie Feeney - Pages

Yes - The Yes Album

Nick Lowe - The Impossible Bird

Joni Mitchell - Night Ride Home

Johnny Cash - Cash Unearthed (okay, it's a 5CD boxset but what a peach of a set)

Genesis - A Trick of the Tail

BB King - Let the Good Times Roll (the music of Louis Jordan)

Bruckener's 7th / Resphigi - The Pines of Rome

Elvis - 1968 Comeback Special

Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World

Dwight Yoakam - Guitars, Cadillacs, etc, etc.

Honourable Mention Award: UFO - Obsession. Amazing album. Have a listen to Looking Out for No. 1 - great band. Well underrated.

Yeah, I figured you might :) It's an album that very nearly made it into my top ten, if it wasn't for 'Moonchild' ;)

Yeah, `Moonchild` is definately the weakest track. That was the one that took a bit longer for me to get into. Still, pretty relaxing on the old headphones if you fancy drifting away for a bit. Also, it sort of breaks the album up and gives you some recovery time/breathing space between the two belters that are `Epitaph` and `ITCOTCK`!
