Your best car ever?

I got a Tesla Model 3 Long Range last month on company lease (NHS salary sacrifice)....it's easily the best car I've ever owned! Every time I drive it, it puts a huge grin on my face. 🙂

I'm due to leave my job early next year and will have to return it.....but will be buying a Tesla again.

Which is the best car you've ever driven?

BMW M3. Exactly the same reason, it put a smile on my face every time I drove it. Stunning looking as well. The problem was that everybody wanted to race against me. Got 9 points in 5 months.

Recently I was given a courtesy car of a BMW 840i convertible. That was 2 weeks of glorious fun. Ironically it was 340bhp with a twin turbo engine, but not as quick as the 321bhp M3. Still an £89,100 courtesy car can't be bad.

I've never driven an electric car, and am intrigued by them. If I ever get rid of my current car (which I can't imagine ever wanting to do*), it's likely it'll be electric - and Tesla is a long way ahead of most of the field. (*Manual, naturally-aspirated engine revving to 8.5k, no ePAS etc).

Current car is a B7 Audi RS4 (hence the engine as avatar)- bought it 13 years ago, and it's almost as much a part of the family as the dog. Non-standard now in that it has a little more power (and a useful chunk of extra torque). So that's 434PS and a clean licence. (Sorry JJ!)

Toyota Celica GT4 ST205

My pride and joy, owned it for 7 years, until that fateful day last year, had just picked it up from the MOT centre £500 poorer, took it down the car wash, drove about a mile down the road and some muppet whammed me up the arse while I was stationary and wrote it off

That car was so fast. Used to shoot flames out the back and everything. 3rd Gear was the most ridiculous ratio I've ever seen in a car, would take you from 20 to about 120 and that feeling of being shoved back in your seat when it was between 5-7200rpm was just awesome, I miss that car so much

Looking for something to replace it with tbh. Any suggestions? About £5000-£10k to spend. Don't care how old it is but I'd like something faster if possible.....

Thing is you will be spoilt for choice this time next year with the number of electric vehicles that will be on the market, (Plus the charging infrastructure will have also improved, which is where Tesla really scores at the moment)

Loved my first car which was MK1 Escort, currently drive a Nissan Leaf and although a great car it just does not feel like something that will go down in history like the Escort.

The Nissan Leaf will probably become a classic as it was the first affordable mass produced electric car that sold in great numbers. (Took Tesla a long time to overtake it sales wise and they still can’t make any decently priced cars for the masses)

For me it was a toss-up between a Citroen BX (It was the only car you could drive all day and get out as fresh as you got in (More expensive cars sucked in comparison) and a 2004 Seat Leon, which had the build quality of the Volkswagen group and brilliant ride and handling. (Put many more expensive cars to shame.

No, I'm only 42......far off from retiring. Will be working elsewhere. I have enquired about the Tesla I already have. Because it's public sector I cannot transfer that to personal lease or purchase.

I've spent more on music (not including the equipment to play it!) than I have on any single car.
Currently own a 17 year old Focus Ghia.
As the insurance bloke was reading back my details, he had trouble pronouncing the word 'Ghia' - no real surprise, but what did surprise me was that he'd never heard the word.
Kids today eh? 🙂

Best I have had for comfort and all round ability was my Discovery 3 however too many tiny issues, mainly sensor related, meant it became too expensive to keep.
Failing that my latest Subaru Forester I guess.
For shear fun the best I have probably driven but not owned was a Lotus Carlton.

Got used to it rather quickly. All information is on the third of the screen on your side. Also, I use adaptive cruise control frequently.

You actually asked two questions, looking at it. I've driven a single-seater and a couple of Lotuses on track days, along with an M2, which was not the ideal companion at a sopping wet Silverstone last year. None of which I'd swap for, though.

Best for being passengered was a Lamborghini Gallardo at Bruntingthorpe. I'd happily swap a V8 for a V10...

Saw one of those Lotuses a few weeks ago, guy up the road from me had one. Looked absolutely beautiful. Can't be many of those left on the road in 2020. Probably wasn't many 20 years ago tbh, lotus had a bit of a reputation back in the day


Looking at subarus myself now. Think its going to be an Impreza WRX, also looking at the Legacy and the Forrester STi (lol). Not a great time to buy a car right now tbh, used values have gone through the roof, don't think there's many people selling due to covid

I’ve got a Clio RS 200, love it to bits. I’ve driven faster but the Clio is just such a giggle.

I did get a drive in a Tesla S, possibly a p85? Can’t remember. It didn’t have ludicrous mode but was sub five seconds to 60. It was pretty addictive accelerating with no letup for gear changes. I’m still holding out on these Zoe RS rumours 🙂
