that I wasn't buying anything this year.

Well I've succumbed to the upgrade DAC for my CDP. It's a plug and play board that works in conjunxtion with the existing DAC.

Now just need the missus to go out for the day so that I can get the upgrade fitted and back in place before she gets home.

You have a Unison Research Unico CDE and you're upgrading your DAC? What a waste of money for both!

Well no, since it's the DAC in the CD player...

Then I think he needs to replace the cd player. This is one with valves correct?

JohnDuncan:AndrewDale:Precisely. What is wrong with the DAC in the cd player?

Not soft enough? Not velvety enough? Not enough like a mouse's ear?

Or maybe it needs more Genies.....

JoelSim:...tell me it sounds anything but stunning, like genies coming out of the speakers and singing to me. Truly sublime,

have the genies turned out to be gremlins instead?

I think it's one of the newer Wolfson's on the upgrade DAC.

Lets face it, it would need a lot of will power not to try it ... if the option is there.

Yes I believe it's that one. And as I said it works in conjunction (x sic) with the current DAC.

I'm not even slightly unhappy with my current DAC, but after a few months I just got a strong urge to go for it. Probably something to do with the fact that the missus is going to a 5* resort in March with Junior and her mum for a week, whilst I'm sat at home twiddling my knobs, or in fact popping down the hifi shop to upgrade and she'll know no better...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha [to fade]

Iggs, if she finds out then I may just bring the whole system up!
