You will get internet radio air play and many more services from that box.Looks like real deal for only £299!
yes it looks ok it's out in August it does a lot of things I see they make a pre amp for it too but I would only be using something like that for the apple air play so I can hear my downloads and the radio but the amp inside would be redundant but see you can switch that part of it off if you wanted to but it would be interesting to know how this will connect to my Yamaha amp as I am a bit worried that I might end up with sound drop outs like I did with the airport express

hi Blacksabbath, there is a wxC and a wxA version. The wxC has no amp and the wxC version is designed to add to an existing amplifier like the a-s series.

so No redundancy there in that case.

May as well add the R-N500 as a source. It has has everything you want for £249 including built-in AirPlay and even FM/AM too.

clicky

i see were your coming from on the R-N500 as it has most of the things i am after but again it got the amp side of things were i have a really good amp already but see its £50 cheaper then buying the yamaha WXC but with the WXC its a lot smaller and you could put it on its side if you wished and then there a switch at the back so you can take it out of amp mode . i am going to talk to the shop were i got my amp and cdplayer from as they are yamaha dealers so should know more then i do

It's a shame you couldn't get the Airport Express to work. i still think it's the best solution with all the other gear you have. I don't understand what the problem could be, unless the Airport Express was defective or one or one of the cables was faulty. Did you test the analogue connection like I suggested?

I spend hours on trying to get it work i had to take it back in the end and get a refund . pc world thought it was to do with cd player and not the express and that my cdplayer needed some sort of update in order for it to work but looked on the yamaha web site to see but they only do softwere to work a harddrive so its a shame . i just ordered a yamaha cast which comes out in august on sale or return so i will try that to see if thats any good but it does itunes air play .

I find it very hard to believe that the CD-player needed some sort of update. A Toslink signal is a Toslink signal. Did you try an analogue connection straight from the Airport Express to the amp? That would be using the DAC in the Airport Express itself. If that works, you know tthe Airport Express is OK. I can understand the frustration with not being able to get it working but it sounds to me that there might have been a problem with the (network) settings or a faulty Toslink cable. In another thread I posted links about about setting up the Airport Express with a Virgin Super Hub. I hope you had a look at those.

I hope you have better luck with other equipment.
