Yamaha RX-V3900 vs DSP-Z7

Has anyone had an opportunity to audition the V3900 and the Z7 side by side? What were your impressions?

I've owned both these amps. The RXV 3900 is a great amp and i was very happy with it, the Z7 is in a different league. If you have the extra cash i'd recommend the Z7.

The RX-V3900 is very good but the DSP-Z7 excerts more grip over speakers and therefore is tighter, faster, more potent and offers greater scale/depth to the sound.

The Z7 is built better too and also has a few more features up it's sleeve.

Hi Beaverme,

The Z7 just handles itself better, more control. My speakers "came alive" when connected to the Z7, i was hearing sounds i couldn't with the other amps. I have various test discs and i've watched them numerous times so i know what to expect when it comes to specific scenes, with the Z7 there are sounds i never heard before, surround sound effects etc. I could hear the difference with movies and music.
