Yamaha RVX1065 receiver shuts off during testing

I just bought this receiver and hooked everything up correctly. I get sound from all the speakers but the receiver shuts down when I play it at higher volumes so I ran a firm update to see if that was the problem which it was not. I then tried to run an automatic setup for the speakers with the mic and when it got to my rear surround speaker, the receiver shuts itself down again when it gets to the third pulse. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be and how to fix it?

Agree, speaker wire touching the rear panel.

I hear alarm bells when you say 'rear surround'. If you're setting up a 5.1 system, the surround speakers need to be connected to 'surround left' and 'surround right'. Forgive me if you've done this already!
