Using Sky HD the output is either Dolby PLIIx or Dolby Digital. What processing mode should I use ? - DSP standard, PLIIx Surr decode or Straight - for each source. I am a little confused.
My understanding it that Straight is basically the "default" no processing setting so if its a dolby 5.1 source thats what you'll get, however if its a dolby stereo 2.0 source thats when you can use the surround decode setting to matrix it up to PLIIx, neo 6 etc.
I sometimes use the dsp settings for music thats about it for me.
Guess I use Straight for DD from Sky and usually DSP staright for non dolby which I assume is Dolby ProLogic. But I recently tried the Sur Decode setting which also shows DDIIx on the info screen. I am trying to work out what processing is going on and which is better ?
I guess I want to find the least processing option
I have mine set for DPL2, so when the Sky box is outputing stereo then the processor converts this to DPL2, but when the Sky box outputs Dolby Digital 5.1 then the amp senses this and automatically switches the processing off and goes to 5.1 mode.
