Xbox dvd audio

i have my xbox connected to the dacmagic via optical to my amp, when playing a game the sounds plays ok, when i try to play a dvd their is no audio heard, the dac light is on as if its receiving a signal but no sound is heard. ive tried all the settings in the xbox and dvd set for stereo speakers but no joy.Sound is heard vi hdmi through the tv for both games and dvd playback but only through the amp for game audio.

Any suggestions

Pretty sure this is because the Xbox can't downmix 5.1 soundtracks on films to stereo so the DacMagic can't handle the signal coming through and thus you get no sound. See this thread.
