Hi

Currently waiting for the various new TV's to come out over the next few months - before buying my first LCD Tv. I have a philips CRT. But have recently noticed that the price of these TV's has dropped to £1300 with 3 or 4 year warranties. I was put off Sony by the clouding issues. But question is would you buy this Tv at this price - Seems a bargain as originally was £1800

Staggerlee,

I got one about a month ago for a similar price and, like you, I was concerned about the potential clouding issue. I've really scrutinised mine and cannot find any evidence of it on my screen. The one thing I would advise is that before you buy it make sure the retailer is happy for you to return it if you do find an issue.

With regards to the TV itself, I've found it superb and I'm amazed with the picture quality (I did have to "fiddle " with the settings quite a bit though to optimise it (using THX and DVE DVD's).

In regards to price though i would say that really it was just the overpriced Sony/comet/currys type stores that were selling it for £1800, you have always been able to get it for around the £1300 mark elsewhere! i got mine for £1230 so have a look around!

£1230 is less than Sony UK charge dealers. Maybe there are some lemming internet retailers willing to make a loss but don't expect them to be there in the future to provide service and support if that is their approach to business.

Good one!! Some of their prices are stupid (from a business point of view) but it certainly seems to have worked out for you. Glad you are pleased. I've got no issues with Richers. Always found their customer service to be excellent. Fair is fair!!
