Would you add a DAC to this setup?

In your opinion would you say £250 or whatever the DacMagic cost be a worthy investment in terms of the sonic performance gained?

Now as you may know both gerrard and I both have the DACMagic and think its fantastic, but in this case I'd say it might be overkill, just because of price in relation to the rest of your system. That said, might be worth a word with the local Richer Sounds to see if they'll do a money-back - I've heard conflicting reports on whether they do. Then you can try it at home and see if it's worth an extra 250 quid to you...

Thank you for the honest reply, I had a feeling that would be the case. I think I should enjoy what I have got now - when funds allow I should consider a 'next level' upgrade of all components.

Agreed. If I had 250 quid and wanted a real step up, I'd sell the 540 for what I could get for it (about 120 quid seems to be the going rate), add the cash, and get a s/h 'proper' amplifier - Kandy, Cyrus, Primare etc.
