I am looking to buy 2 pairs of headphones for bedrooms upstairs. They will be for listening to flac or cd late as I don't want to disturb the neighbours. The hifis in both bedrooms are on the drawers st the end of the bed..about 9 feet from listening position in bed. would wireless headphones sound as good as wired do you think? Or should I get headphones with long leads? Excuse 'style' of post. Posting from a smartphone and they are a pita. Thanks fir any advice.

I think wired over wireless every time, but it depends on your budget? These got rave reviews on here - Philips M1BT. £250 mind.

Thanks both. Thought as much. Was just thinking about headphones thst couldn't strangle you in your sleep ;-) So headphones plus long cabling it will have to be. I was thinking around £70 to £80 per pair. Can anyone recommend anything within that price range? Thanks.

That's a congested price point. So, what types of music do you like, and what kind of sound signature - neutral/flat, bassy, detailed etc. do you like?

Also, closed back (for little/no leakage) open-backed, over ear, on ear preferences please?

Closed back, over the ear would be my preference for late night listening in bed. As for music...well I'll pick jazz vocal, cello, guitar, mellow vocal, etc for late listening and I also listen to standup comedy. I like a detailed, open sound but not bright. Towards neutral but not bass light. Thanks.

Personally I use a pair of Sennheiser RS170s for wireless duties from my main system. I've found they work up to about 3 rooms away, the audio quality is very good (equal to a pair of 400 series Sennheisers I used in the past), and it means I can game away when the missus has gone to sleep. They cost me about £180.

Comfort had a lot to do with it, so I'd recommend a demo between a few pairs. As others have said, sound presentation does differ markedly between manufacturers/models, so get out there and listen with clear features in mind.

Wired will sound better, but weigh that up with potential hazard of someone tripping on it & damaging your precious equipment. :shifty:

Yeah, aside of strangling myself in my sleep :O that was also a concern, bigboss (the 'someone' would probably be me forgetting the cable was in front of me). I think I'll maybe go with wireless after all. And more chance that I'll be around for breakfast as well. ;)

You could try the Sennheiser RS120-II. They are slightly above your budget but not much.

Routinely using Senn RS180s wireless headphones here, connected to amp's Tape Out sockets. Never found ther sound to be grossly lacking in comparison to the the wired HD580s I used previously. I realise they're way over budget, but I mention it just so you know that the potential is there for wireless cans to sound very good indeed.
