Windows 10 - Keyboards Stop Working After Login?

This has happened on two of my machines (the third - an i7 laptop - I can't find after the house move).

After logging in (during which the keyboard works fine) the keyboard stops working all together.

On one PC I resorted to re-installing a brand new copy of Windows 10, costing me $120 in the process, and I'm rather loathed to do it again.

Anyone else had this problem and got a fix?

Looks like yours isn't an isolated problem:

Wireless or USB wired keyboard?

If wireless, you need to turn off the Windows options for bluetooth and wi-fi to save power by turning devices off.

If USB wired, you need to reinstall USB drivers, possibly motherboard/chipset drivers from manufacturer's CD.

Are there still such things? My daughter's Windows 8.1 was download only (Asus or Acer) and had no system disks when purchased new (and sealed).

Yup. I still get a CD(s) with every laptop, PC or periferal I buy. Even when there is nothing but manuals in PDF I get a disc. No worries even if you don't have the drivers on a disc. Everything is available for download from manufacturer websites.

I had a similar problem with the mouse not working. I had to revert back to a previous BIOS. I have a HP, so it is a case of pressing F2 on start up to get the menu option to revert back. i don't know what machine you have, but find out the instruction and try that.

All my PCs except laptops are homebrews. Get (usually) better performance / value that way. This one, for example, is an i7 3930K 3.2 GHzhex-core with 32 gigs of RAM, a 1 terabyte SSD, 3.6 terabyte RAID5 auxilliary, 4K graphics card, etc. etc. Haven't tried overcclocking since I installed Windows 10, but under Windows 8.1 it would run happily at 4.0 GHz.

Found AN answer, not sure it's THE answer, but...

Hold down the Num Lock keyboard until the "Turn on Toggle Keys" pop-up appears, or go to Control Panel, Ease of Access Center (Centre), Make the Keyboard Easier to Use (whoever thought that name up deserves a Nobel Prize, right?) and make sure everything is turned off.
