I'm setting up a computer based hifi. Here's what I'm planning, will it work? ... Music to be stored on a Synology 411j NAS. I'm going to buy a Sonos zone bridge and zone player, wired over Cat 6. And I'm going to pipe it into an Audiolab 8200a amp and Monitor Audio RX1 speakers. My questions:

1) Am I ok doing this without a formal server e.g. a mac mini.

2) Could I work it successfully without the Sonos if I bought a DNLA compatible DAC?

I'm pretty ignorant about this kind of tech but I enjoy music and I'd v excited about running everything centrally!

Would appreciate any comments / thoughts!

The answer to (1) is that yes, you're fine with just a NAS and a zoneplayer. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable will see this thread and answer (2) for you. If you do go down the sonos route, make sure you need the zonebridge before spending money - one product needs to be wired to your router, but this can be a zoneplayer.
