White dashes visible watching freeview via Pana EX77

Having recently bought a Pana TX32LZD85, I have connected my existing Pana EX77 DVD recorder via HDMI.
I have noticed when watching Freeview from the EX77 there are some white dashes visible across the top left of the picture. These are not visible on recordings though, only the "live" images.
DVD playback in also unaffected.
I have tried changing the settings for the HDMI output but to no avail.
Can anyone suggest what this might be caused by? It's not a great problem as the '85s freeview picture is superb but on the occassion when I watch freeview over the HDMI input I do notice them and they are annoying...

I will raise with Panasonic if no-one here can suggest what the problem (and solution) may be.

Set "Overscan" ON in the Setup menu when watching Freeview.

The overscan setting does not completely eliminate the white dashes- Yes I have them too with the same DVD player connected to a 32 inch Panasonic TV via HDMI.

I've tried everything to get rid of them. As you say only happens in "monitor mode" - watching freeview picture off of the DVD player.

Playback of DVD or playback of recorded Freeview from either hard disc or DVD is fine.

I have learnt to watch live freeview from the TV only.

No help I know but you are not alone!

Well, it turned out that the problem was with the TV. As explained by the guy on the Panasonic helpline, the TV did not appear to have completed it's factory test procedure before being shipped.
He instructed me to hold the I(nfo) button on the remote whilst pressing the v- button on the TV itself. The TV went into selfcheck mode. When completed I was advised to switch it off (on the TV front) and then switch it back on. It redid it's channel setup and I now have to setup the picture settings, lable inputs, owner id stuff again.....

However there are no longer any white dashes appearing whilst viewing freeview through the EX77!!

The commands may not be the same for you - but I recommend you call Panasonic on 0844 844 3852 - Good Luck!!

Well done - it worked on mine too! Mind it is a PITA to have to completely re-set every setting on the TV.
