Last month i got a Denon DM38 DAB for the girlfriends house because im spending more and more time there and was going mad with no music.

i couldn't afford a package with speakers so i just got the system and some decent speaker cables and im currently running some old Technics sb-cs50, and the sound is not the greatest to say the least. The Bass is very box like (im not sure if thats the correct term, but there is a lack of depth and delivery) and the high end is overpowering.

I know the speakers are poor, but which speakers will offer me more depth?

i listened to the Q acoustic 2010's (i think) but they didnt really impress me, yes they were clear, but again there was a lack of oomph.

Im looking at spending upto £150 and would consider looking at some second hand speakers if i could find some decent ones.

Iv been considering the below:

NEW:

Monitor Audio BR1

Tannoy Mercury V1

Mission MX1

Q acoustics

SECOND HAND:

pretty endless list really

Dali lektor 1 / 2

Wharfedale diamond 10.1 (found some second hand for £110)

Mission

B&W's

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

You're right the list is pretty endless. The BR1s get a

from me. Been very impressed with them. I know the Tannoy Mercury and Wharfedale 9.1 and 10.1 have also been popular choices on this forum to go with the DM37/38. I too was not overly impressed with the 2010s.
