Hi all,

I've finally got my NAS that I will eventually set up as part of a streaming system. My question is which software is best for this NAS?

By best, I'm really interested in ease of use, installation and compatibility.

The choices seem to be Squeezeserver or itunes, but can itunes stream from a NAS without a computer running? The general idea is to avoid needing the computer on at all.

The NAS is a Linkstation Live 1Tb connected via ethernet to an Orange Livebox. My main computer is a Linux laptop and access is also via an ibook.

Currently have a MF A3 amp, B&W 602 S2's and an OPPO 981HD player (soon to be replaced)

I have no particular preferences so far for equipment, I just want it to work. The only stipulation is that I can browse my library via some form of hand held remote with a reasonable sized colour screen.

Many thanks in advance for any tips.

well squeezeserver is pointless if you dont have a Squeezebox. and yes you will need a PC/laptop on if you are running itunes.

you need to decide what is going to play your tunes.
