Which receiver specs do i need?

I have a set of Bowers & Wilkins speakers with stats 100W/8Ohm. Recently, my receiver stopped working after playing loudly, it's specs were 50/60 Hz - 45 W. Could that be a reason to it crashing out? Also what specs would I need on a receiver to make sure it didn't crash while playing loud music?

No.
(That spec is for the mains power).

Hopefully your speakers are still OK

There are no specs that will guarantee no 'crashing out'. But avoiding playing at excessively high volume will prevent problems to receiver, speakers and ears.
