matthewpiano:JamesOK:Minidisc. Dont know why, I just liked the format. Very good for in car.

Nice format. We've got an MZRH1 Hi-MD Walkman in the shop at the moment. Very nice piece of kit.

We still stock the blank discs as well and sell substantial numbers of them.

Thats interesting. I thought it was pretty much dead. I wonder if these are home users or pro. I think MD is used in radio for example.

I've still got a Sony MZ-N710 which I still use occasionally, although the battery has gone and I can't be bothered to buy a new one. Incidentally I was walking in some far flung wilderness last year when I was approached by a young lady who wanted to interview me for local radio, she used the very same Sony to record the interview, so someone is still using them.

Arcam Alpha 6 integrated amp

Arcam Alpha 5 CDP (it was superb; smooth and warm but with great bass weight and detailed midrange)

To top it off I'd want some Acoustic Energy AE109's (shame they were never dont in gloss/piano black)

Brilliant speakers and had a fairly small footprint as well!

Talking to oneself is considered a sign of madness you know.

At one time it was also considered to be bad netiquette, but I don't think anyone cares about that these days. More's the pity...

For me without a doubt the Rotel RB980BX power amp. With a decent preamp, absolutely breathtaking. Power in spades. There is a sense of body and weight to the sound, with lots of inner detail.

Another vote here for the cylindrical Musical Fidelity X-series, although with much better internals - they needed a lot of upgrading to really shine. Looked very cool, though.

Hmmm, a mate of mine has those and they sound very muddy with his Tannoys.

WEGA was better though! Still got a little 14" Trinitron knocking about somewhere, though!

Mission/Cyrus 780 speakers.

I'd agree with that! As an experiment I hooked up my old pair of 780s to my Naim system yesterday. Theyre actually really good with it. Little bit lacking in the bass department but thats to be expected given the size of the box. Detail from them is really good. If I could mix the detail of my 780s with the low end of my B&Ws I'd be happy.

Hi Sizzers

Yes i also meant the Wega screens.

Funny thing is whenever i have been to clients houses who have still got a Trinitron/Wega televison which have been replaced for the main viewing with a Sony plasma/lcd the Trinitron/Wega televisions have always had a better picture by miles! Even Eastenders through a roof top aerial at 576i looks better than 1080p Blu ray being played.

Thanks
