Which Amplifier for KEF3005SE

I am looking at buying the KEF3005SE speakers but in 3 minds about the amplifier, considering the Sony STR-DA2400, Yamaha 763 or the Yamaha 863, not sure spending the extra on the 863 will make that much of a difference, but what do other people think? This will be my first separates system.

Hi,

I think you'll find that the 863 is worth the extra outlay. The 3005s are up to it. But the best advice is to go and have a listen and see which you prefer. What source/s would you be feeding it with?

I will only be feeding it a Panasonic BD35 at the moment.. Just not sure if I would notice the difference and now getting impatient to buy something, been too long making my mind up!!

Dont discount the Denons the 1909 or 2309. Am really happy with my 1909

I have an 863 and 3005SE and it sounds fantastic. Before I bought it I tested the speakers with the Denon 1909 and Onkyo 606. The 863 sounded far superior. The sound was more detailed and refined. It also sounded better with CD's.

Another vote for the Yamaha '863.

The 3005's sound ok on somehting like 1909's and 606's, but really shine when placed on the end of a 1900 or 3900. So yes, they will respond to better amplification.

I have the Sony 2400 and it is a great combination with the KEF 3005's !!
