Previously big boss said the denon receivers should drop around February. It's march now and the 1200w is still £299.99. I want to get it for £250 if possible but can't wait much longer as I should be selling my sony 1040 on Thursday

for a significant price drop its normally the higher end you'll see this. Yes, the 1200 will drop in price but not as much because the margins will be far less.

I purchased my Denon x4100 last Feb and it had come down from over a grand to £850 which is a decent price drop. The 4100 is now £499 but is over 18 months since it was launched...

£299 is a good price for the 1200 with all what's packed into it. Have you tried Peter Tyson as they seem to be the cheapest when I have ever checked?

I've just had a look around on the net and can only find this at Amazon. I can't find any reciever that is atmos, dtsx and 2.2 compliant at £299. All other receivers are coming around the £400 mark. I'd buy the 1200 while its still available because its seems to be the only decent reciever with all the bells and whistles packed in..

£300 is £100 less than list, what do you want, jam on it lol? I can't see it dropping by much more until it's superceded and stockist are looking to move-on the old model fast.

Looks like the OP will have to hold tight until the cyber monday sales in November. *biggrin*

I'm assuming you have no plans to go above 5.1.2 Atmos then. Because if you do want to go for 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 in the future, it makes sense to go for a 9-channel AVR now. Otherwise it's false economy.

theres no way i'm paying £1000 for a receiver. looks like i'll never go for a 9 channel amp! this will do.
