My personal opinion is sonically it won't be an upgrade just a sideways move. If you want a real upgrade you'll need to spend more and look further up the range. However, if you just want the 6007 for it's digital connections there are cheaper ways of doing it. Don't get too hung-up on hi-res, the actual recording quality is the where it matters most.
I think you are right. Although I've had the CD6004 for 12 years it still sounds great and I can listen to High Res via my Sony Blu Ray and Cambridge Audio DAC which sounds excellent. I can certainly hear 24 bit stereo sounding better than CD but not always. As you say it very much depends on the original recording. It would be more convenient to be able to listen to FLAC/Hi Res on the CD player too but maybe not worth the money for that alone.

New headshell is next - an Audio Technica LH11-H which I'll shortly be ordering.

I intend to upgrade my phono stage later this year too. I will be buying a Big Bottle BB3.
I remember looking at headshells after getting my Technics last year, and found it surprisingly difficult to get the weight/mass information. Many were much heavier than the supplied item, which doubtless dates me to the era before CD when low-mass was king!

I’m sure I never got rid of my magnesium ADC headshell which was super. But I’m blowed if I can find it. They now sell for huge sums on eBay. Mine even came with a nice plastic case that holds 3 or 4 headshells.

A second Auris BluMe LDAC receiver. Bought it for myself to stream from my phone internet radio stations and Deezer because the Denon's HiFi set is more limited in radio stations and Deezer functionality.
My husband has a Luxman amp and huge floorstanders he built himself many years ago. They are in the living room but little used because there is no connection to the digital world... do I dedcided we could use a second device to breathe new life into his old but high quality system.

I've just bought a Yamaha A-S500 second hand on eBay. Now I'm looking for some good speakers to go with it. I'm thinking maybe the Dali Opticon 2 MkII as I've got a pair of Dali Oberon 5s which are nice.

On Ebay, I have seen some Roksan TR5 S2 speakers for sale. They might work well with the Yamaha A-S500 amplifier?

Ermm! . Having said that since the demise of my cassette deck, I'd ditch my tapes.... I've picked up a Denon deck, in very good condition, for a reasonable price.

The deciding factors were a couple of albums no longer available and the "other-half" not wanting to get rid of her mix tapes. Not much point keeping mix tapes if you have nothing to play them on (not that she will).

Wiim Ultra as well, gets launched tomorrow at Munich. I'll probably be waiting for the reviews of the room correction first as that is the feature I am most interested in.
It will probably be equivalent to the house curve app on iphone but I am hoping it is good enough.
Yes I want One, even though I can't really justify buying it. Ah my dining room needs a streamer or maybe I just want an Eversolo streamer on the cheap! :)

Ok prices are coming in for the WiiM Ultra, price in dollars $329 but do the maths. Good price I think, just need the reviews to put it into perspective.
The short-comings from the WiiM vanilla models, you need your mobile to do everything. I like the idea, you can navigate using the touch screen on the device, big Plus, No we had that, big Ultra plus! :)

The WiiM Ultra will retail for a very competitive $329, while the Amp Pro will sell for a slightly higher $369. The only other streamer with a screen -- and anywhere near this price -- is the EverSolo DMP-A6 for $859. Meanwhile, the ever-popular Bluesound Node is $599, but it is also LCD-less. We are expecting good things when these WiiM devices land later in Q3.

Oh, WHF has got a sniff of it but it's not saying anything we already know.

YOU can't justify buying it?.....
I've got a perfectly good DAC and phono preamp built into my integrated amp.
I've also got an ES9038Q2M in a standalone DAC that I've owned for ages.
I've got a good standalone headphone amp.
I don't need AirPlay 2, Chromecast, DLNA, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz or Deezer.
I've already got (proper) room correction.
I don't need any multiroom function that this can provide.
I can't make use of its HDMI ARC function.
I've already got a (Raspberry Pi) streamer.

Yet I still want one 🤪

Yeah Foooo 'it, gonna buy one for the diner. Going to need a passive switch, my SMSL A300 amp only has one input. According to the rumour mill, it should be on the market end of May.
