Hello everyone!
Long time listener. First time caller. Just wanted to quickly say how much I appreciate the posts and responses within the community. I've used the heck out of these forums without ever having needed to post anything myself. Until now!
I've slowly accumulated a mishmash of audio equipment over the years and I'm finally looking to make a relatively big purchase of possibly something new (or new to me). Where to start is the biggest question I have right now as I would slowly like to get into better equipment. Here is what I have:
-Dual 1219 (AT11E)
-Schiit Mani 2
-Denon AVR-3313CI (phono input doesn't work hence the Mani)
-Dahlquist QX10s
-Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro 250 ohm
-Schiit Vali 3
-Schiit Modi (1)
I primarily listen to vinyl over speakers so I would say that's probably the direction I'm going to focus my upgrades on. I just wanted to include everything in case I'm doubling up on something that I don't need. I'd like to keep my budget at or below $2k (CAD). I think the Denon might be the weak point right now. From what I could see the Rotel A10 MKII ($849) might be a good option as the A11 MKII ($1,099) has a DAC which I already have in the Modi. Whether or not the A11 MKII DAC is a better DAC than the Modi I'm not sure. The Arcam A5 ($1,099) and A15 ($1,499) also caught my eye but seem to be similar to the A11 or overkill for what I have right now but might be worth getting for future proofing. Not sure how the Mani stacks up against the phono in any of those options or if I should be looking at something without a phono.
I like my Dual well enough at the moment but I know it will be the weak point if I upgrade the Denon. A cartridge upgrade might help stretch that one out a bit further too. I haven't really seen a turntable and amp combo that would keep me below my budget if I bought both right now. I don't have a ton of knowledge in the newer realm of turntables but the Technics SL-1500C ($1,599) seems to be a solid upgrade candidate to jump into the modern era of turntables.
Anyways, my apologies for the rambling. Where do you think my $2k would be best spent at the moment? I think my speakers are probably the highlight of my equipment right now but I might be wrong. Ideally everything would get switched out further down the line. I appreciate any input as I've done a bit of homework but I don't have a ton of experience and might be missing something glaringly obvious.
