Quite mainstream for you, Charlie, but a very good selection none the less. *wink*

Yes, maybe it's time to revisit my James Last box sets. His avant garde Hammond Bar band Lps are something else! The James Taylor Quartet should hang their heads in shame.

Hello! My daughter came home for Christmas and we listened to a load of stuff, much of it streamed, that we both like: The Beatles, The Zombies, Radiohead etc...it was lovely but then I made a fatal mistake: I bought her a PS4 for Christmas. I think she's still here, somewhere. Haven't seen her for a while though!!

Have fun! You could probably do worse than end your drinking session with the infamous Buddy Rich 'bus tapes'.

Lovely man. Maybe the band leader character in 'Whiplash' was based on lovely Mr Rich?

I think he was based on a real teacher, but in the film the teacher's hero (and that of the young drummer) is Buddy Rich. Possibly for the ranting as much as the playing. Hope you're having fun with your pals, anyway.

I have both The Driver and Whiplash OST on vinyl, and yes the tutor in the film and the real life Mr.Rich, such nice, relaxed kinda guys. Great frenetic drumming too.

Currently listening to:

The Guitar & Other Machines - The Durutti Column

This is for me one of the great albums in his or anyone's canon. The interplay between the curlicue, oft abstract strands of Vini's lines and the neo-classical, ambient, fusion forms of the rest of the ensemble really make it something special.

Moonshine - Bert Jansch

Whaouh, what time did you get to bed? That looks like a 12-hour playlist.

Hope you had a crackin' time.

The men managed to stay up until 4am, the ladies didn't. *blum3*

Not every album got played in it's entirety, I was up and down like a yo-yo, but a good night was had.
