Charlie Jefferson said:As for Born To Run on vinyl, I haven't played it in years, but I'm about to dig out an original 70's copy pilfered from my brother's collection to find out. Personally, I've always much preferred the less bombastic Darkness On The Edge Of Town, which sounds truly magnificent on vinyl.

It features that fine Glaswegian Yuletide ballad "There's No Lights On The Christmas Tree Mother, They're Burning Big Louie Tonight".

Good point!
Maybe "12 Dreams of Dr.Sardonicus" and then it's over to CD methinks.
Merry Xmas by the way. Did you get anything good music wise?
Lost Angeles said:Merry Christmas. I got £85 to spend on vinyl. You obviously have got nothing new or are saving it for sober times.

I asked for Amazon Gift vouchers from both my kids and they've duly delivered.
I'm going to have a good look tomorrow online to see what I fancy.
Tonight's just a nostalgic night of old favourites. Maybe it's the wine, but I'm currently thinking that Spirit's "Twelve Dreams of Dr.Sardonicus" is probably the greatest album of all time. Randy California a real hero of mine. Sublime.

I'm betting the latter.
It will probably be another album tomorrow, you know how these things work
I've just listened to Audience's "House on the Hill" and I'm moving towards that now as my "greatest" album ( or certainly, the greatest album that no-ones ever heard.
The thing is,whenever I play an album that I really, really love with a passion I always call it the greatest album ever. Truth is, there are hundreds of albums out there that are just so wonderful and perfect that it is ridiculous to rate them. It's a stupid statement anyway. I love Elbow and I love The Beatles. I love Crosby Stills and Nash and I love Matt Schofield. I love their recordings equally.
Don't mind me, I've been drinking too much wine.

shropshire lad said:Had a reasonable haul of LPs for Christmas . Most of them are what many people would call " difficult music " , or unlistenable .
Here's my little list :
Sigur Ros - INNI
Oneohtrix Point Never - Returnal
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1972
Fay Ray - Contact You
and quite a rare one from the 1970s Gunter Schikert - Samtvogel

I can say I know none of these, which is great as it shows that we all have such varied taste. It would be boring if we all liked the same music.
DIB. Hope you had a great evening and are not suffering too much this afternoon.
I may have a trip sometime to your Ruguely shop and see what they have in stock Saturday.
