The Doors - first album and Strange Days, Love - first album and Da Capo, Clear Light - Black Roses, Earth Opera - first album, Stooges - Fun House, MC5 - Kick Out the Jams, Tim Buckley - Goodbye and Hello, Rhinoceros - first album, Paul Butterfield Blues Band - East-West...

Have never heard that, but I reckon it might be right up my Straße as well. Nice find!

I'm impressed with it, and even more impressed that the record shop next door hadn't pocketed it for themselves. I nearly missed that it was John Coltrane myself, actually.

I know very little about World Record Club as a label, but I have a few, including 'Africa/Brass'. The complete sessions which resulted in the lp have been released on cd and are well-worth hearing, especially the brilliant, 'Song Of The Underground Railroad' which I really wish was on the initial release. Spotify'google it...wonderful tune.

Yes it is that version, Jim, and I think the reason it was still in the shop was because it was on the World Record Club label. It's quite a strange label, as most of the stuff you see in charity shops on WRC are classical reissues and compilations, though they do have quite a decent catalogue, with some good records.

I'll check that other track and see what I think.

Yes you should do, Jim, with only 10,000 records, you could do with a little more choice. *wink*

Ha! It wouldn't be for expanding the collection, but I just love watching tape wind on those reels and I'd really like to get a tape player; it would further help to create the illusion that it's still 1966, which I've spent most of my life trying to do. *blush*

East Of Eden: 'Snafu'.
Jazzy, 'progessive' late 60's/early 70's strangeness; call it what you want, these boys had tunes and could play. Highly underrated and much better than King Crimson in the instrumental passage stakes...imo of course.
