Rolling Stones - `Aftermath` Re-issue from a few years ago. Shooter69 just reminded me I haven`t played this for awhile. I bought a load of Stones re-issued cd`s around the same time as I got this on vinyl. The cd`s are good but I wish now I`d purchased more of the vinyl editions.

Me too. I`ve still only got `Free The Bees` (fantastic summer music) on cd and have been meaning to expand my Bees collection.

Meat Loaf - `Bat Out Of Hell 3-The Monster Is Loose` Dble vinyl. You know despite being a big Meat Loaf fan I`ve never bought this on cd to play in the car or put on my mp3 player. It has grown on me a little though I became tired of hearing recycled Steinman songs which always sound best by the original artists such as Pandora`s Box or Jim Steinman himself. I can imagine if he ever does Bat Out Of Hell 4 it might well include a version of `Total Eclipse Of The Heart`. Sadly I don`t think we will ever see any new classic Steinman songs.

Just time this evening to play another old favourite from quite a while ago before bed...

61Z5Q5NQ2XL._SS500_.jpg

.

I played the very same album earlier today. Then went on a bit of Pete solo marathon: Scoop, Chinese Eyes, Who Came First, Rough Mix (w/Ronnie Lane) - all vinyl bar Who Came First. I'd forgotten how good parts of Empty Glass were. Loved all of Rough Mix too.

Just finished the evening with side one of The Fall's This Nation's Saving Grace and a Morrissey B-side, Lost.

I don't know whether its because of my current set up but Empty Glasses sounds tons better than I remember it. It's an absolutely ace LP. Listening through my Grado's and I'm picking out so much more detail than I can recall.

Spookily Charlie, I've also got out my Rough Mix LP for playing next. I bought that for £3 last year from a record fair, and that too is a belter.

I think tomorrow my Live At Leeds LP will have to get a dusting down too.

Hi DIB,

Yes I agree Empty Glass sounds great, though I've never heard a digital version so can't compare. The one I omitted from my list that I love, but didn't get around to playing was White City. A mixed bag of songs and ideas - like many of Pete's - but a fantastic listen. Sounds really big on vinyl.

Rough Mix is a lovely listen too, isn't it.

Your mention of Live At Leeds has sent me scurrying towards my Who vinyl now for one last late night listen. Probably, a side of Quadrophenia or maybe Side 2 of Who By Numbers.

Happy Who listening.

Cheers.

I was never big into The Who and just have two of their albums , Live at Leeds and The Kids are Alright . In addition I also have Townsend's Empty Glass . I never really listened to it much . So seeing this I guess I'll go and give it a listen for the first time for about 25 years , Maybe I'll like it more now ,

Let us know what you think when you re-acquaint yourself with Empty Glass.

Two Who albums, but no Who's Next? You must Spotify or just buy. It's the real deal of Who-ness and brilliance. Lots of editions on both vinyl and CD to choose from.

I also have Mumford on vinyl and it is indeed a great listen. Haven`t even picked it up on cd yet (probably will do at some point) though I can`t see it sounding as good! Think I got mine for around £17 imported from Germany.

With guest appearances from some of 1970's British rock aristocracy (Clapton, Watts, Entwistle) and top class session men ( Dave Marquee, Rabbit, Henry Spinetti to name three) this is well worth 40 minutes of anybodies time. Released in 1977 this was the complete opposite of what was happening in the UK at the time with the Pistols and Clash et al, hence why it was completely overlooked.

Smashing cover too.
