Hi guys.

I'm after some advice pls.

I'm after a new TV, preferably LCD (I'm advised)?

My lounge will take a 37 nicely but maybe upto a 42"?

I'm after a TV, a stand and a half desent speaker system (unless the TV has a gud system of its own?)

I have a budget of approx £1000?

Is this achievable?

I like the look of the new Toshiba LCD picture frame and Sony V3000 but will take any advice on board...

Questions -
[*] Which is best for all round usage (Mainly general TV/film thru Blue Ray PS3, a bit of gaming, minimal sports.....) [*] Where to buy? (online/if so, where?) [*] Scarts/HDMIs (how many do they have?)
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanx.

Lee.

iv just bought a panasonic 42pz85 [1080 set] which i got from john lewis for 1055 with a pricematch [@sound and vision - bolton]
the speakers on it are ok but your never going to get a flat tv with great speakers

im guessing you could get the px series [720p] by the same means and have some change for a home cinema in a box setup but i cant give any advice on this as im more of a separates kinda guy you might even be able to get some budget separates from richersounds.com depending on what you have left

and remember try to demo them first

Forget the LCD, get a plasma as the contrast is better, the motion handling is better and Standard Def is better. Panny TH-42PX80 for £677 (sound and vision online) Sony DAV-IS10 for £365.99 (hifibitz) TOTAL: £1042.99

Agree with Tomcat on the choice. The PX80 will give you a really good picture on all sources - PS3, Blu-Ray, SD (Freeview, Standard Definition Sky, etc.) and upscaled DVDs. Unless you are going to use your tv as a PC monitor, definitely go plasma at that size.

If you're not in a rush for an audio system, save up for a bit longer for some separates. The Sony system is very good but won't give you the High-Definition audio formats that the PS3 is capable of outputting. Saving up an extra couple of hundred quid will give you enough to get something like an Onkyo 605 and a decent set of surround speakers.
