I have the following items

Cyrus Smart power amplifier

Slimp3 player

Epos Es12 speakers

All with quality stands and cables

I am thinking of adding a Beresford DAC but beyond that am not sure what the next step is, a Cyrus PSX-r supply or another Smart Power amplifier and bi-amp? or new speakers?

If the Slimp3 (which is the original squeezebox, if I remember right?) has a digital out then a DAC is the obvious next step yes - and the latest Beresford is a preamp too, so avoiding the digital volume control, which will probably give you the biggest leap.

Any thoughts on steps beyond that? what would give the biggest benefit?

A cyrus PSX-R or another Cyrus Smart power amp and biwired?

And are the speakers a good match?

I'd be inclined to go the extra power amp route, and split it vertically rather than horizontally (ie dual mono - one amp per speaker) if the smart powers are configurable that way. I'm leery of how much incremental benefit (in relation to cost) you can get from better power supplies (though more in an agnostic way than atheist). There's a thread on here just now entitled 'PSX-R no difference' or some such - might make interesting reading for you.

I think the speakers are a good match yes, but you can always buy better - you should definitely audition 'extra power amp vs new speakers' when the time comes.

Sorry to jump in on this ... Can only some power amp be used as dual monos? I was wondering this last night. Can't you just connect one amp to one speaker, one to the other and split the ics? I was hoping to buy another 909 one day and do this (wheN £££ allows)
