What Hi-fi only please: Re Big question re: amps

Maxflinn advised there was a big question re: amp values and differences heard, if you look at my thread just below.

He advised he read somewere that you did a test with budget amps and a amp that was like 5000.00 and paired them with the accoustics 2000 and there was no difference really.

Can you advise the exact details of this test, like what you thought ect. or which issue it was in, so I can buy a back-copy.

Just need to know before I blow 900.00 on a amp.

Max is only slightly wide of the mark: we did a Big Question in September's issue where we took a budget system, then upgraded (in turn) the BD player, amp and speakers, to see which gave the most extra bang for buck.
