I have just seen this this morning - its a first time post from someone new to Jplay and products etc.

I do not know them, or have any influence or relevance to them - this is what they have written.

Hello, a first post for a fairly new forum member and newcomer to JPlay, the JCAT USB Card and the Reference USB Cable.

I'll start by saying I had been using a computer dedicated to my music system for about a year connected to an old Benchmark DAC via S/PDIF. I had ripped all my CDs/ DVDs/SACDs to a NAS. I also download hi-rez digital files from HDtracks and Acoustic Sounds...

...The pace, soundstage and low level detail in particular are killer after break-in! I'll spare all the pros describing the SQ and just say I'm having a blast

Can't help but be suspicious of first time posters signing up to a forum and raving about a product. You, Ellis, remind me of Fox Mulder from the X Files - you really, really want to believe and you don't look at things from an impartial viewpoint.

Thats not the only person to do that i.e. post a positive response for the first time- and not the only time they will post either. That was at the end of a thread full of praise - hardly a fake one needed in that thread if that is what is implied.

JPLay 6 comes out next week apparently - probably only beta but looking forward to trying that out. Cheers for the comments Dave but its still nothing compared to the hi end system we heard the weekend - I am trying to match that but all efforts in vain so far :)

In terms of me looking at things un impartial - I go with what I experience, that is the only thing that matters to me - if you read through all what I have written you will clearly see that is the case.

I think its the least of a "scam" of the whole of sales of the hifi industry.

One low fee for a life time of help, upgrades and great sound - no other hifi or av company offers anything like that. Normally its buy a new box for full price for a small incremental improvement or worse in the av market feature features features

The closest to this is I suppose is SAM from Devialet, as that is free by all accounts once you own the kit

Jplay has different play modes and settings / settings are recommended to be changed in the registry for the programme - changing them changes the presentation of the music - this is clearly audible, The idea of it doing nothing is easily proved to me to be false time and time again by this fact alone as far as I am concerened.

As stated earlier I have done bit perfect tests blu ray player vs audio pc - they do not sound the same

apart from the other producers of music software, say like foobar or jriver, and some of those come with no cost....

sigh... in which case it's not outputting bitperfect as it's altering the sound.

JPlay 5 Introduced Ultrastream playback "engine" or mode not sure that is what its called technically

previously there was beach, river and extreme I think - extreme runs the computer hard and the limited testing I did at my cousins before I had an audio pc this option sounded best.

With windows 8 they introduced ultrastream and hearing that it got me interested in this solution - it started sounding like music and less like digital.

There are basic settings for all jplay "modes" but for ultrastream you have US size in the registry.

This you can change from 20 (with a newer update to 0) up to 5000.

Its suggested the lower is best - however depending on dac / usb to spdif drivers used you cant always have a low US size - you get errors in the playback - ticks or scratches.

However that aside - I have tried for a long time to have a low US, low as possible - however my drivers wont allow it, so its gradually been increased - but I have found the higher the US size the more relaxed and warm sounding the computer is - it seems to get less harsh - however this does also seem to reduce clarity a bit and the direct sound at the same time

However I have made a lot of changes - so my plan is to try and work the US size back down again and to the point where the errors occur - so to be on my limit and hear what thats like now

I am guessing only that JPlay 6 might have bypassed this, but thats hoping ./ guessing.

That was for a sata cable - if you saw it you would see why I am not keen on keep taking it in and out. Its literally bent over in half, I am amazed its still working to be truthful.

The inside of my case is worse now as I have made all my own power cables / screened the other ones and they are big in a very small case. Buying this case was a big mistake.

But BB I can do you a blu ray vs audio pc test so you can hear for yourself bit perfect is not bit perfect - they do not sound the same. You should come and hear the system as well as its a good example of what av can sound like for music.

Nothing like Real Good HiFi but still decent, better than most other systems I have heard by a considerable amount

looks like it's just a buffer size thing.

That is probably all it is - but it does change the sound presentation still.

Sorry still not sussed out editing quotes
