On BBC HD @ 9.00, Rock and Chips.

Which is the prequel to Only Fools and Horses.

Well, it wasn't as good as anticipated. Course, it had some authentic scenes, but with Nicholas Lyndhurst playing a crook you knew how the plot would climax. But it didn't. It was a feeble, slow plot and the script, apart from a few amusing lines, was sterile.

The OH said it was "painfully slow" and she found it difficult to keep awake.....

Just watched this on DVD for the first time, cracking film:

Incidentally, I watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last night on Blu-ray, and I have to concur with comments on other threads, dreadful PQ, so dark. I watched the extras afterwards and couldn't help thinking how much time and money they'd wasted on props and scenery which were all but invisible in the final product. Doesn't make me want to buy Blu-rays.

Black Books in 40 mins, sound as a pound.

Watched Moon on BD Saturday night, good although given all the hype, the comparisons to 2001 and some of the discussions which referred to a metaphysical element I was a little underwhelmed at what is actually a pretty simple story. I'd have probably been better off going into it stone cold, great performance from Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey, in a way, I was just expecting something a little more challenging I think, I guessed the twist within 5 minutes but then I do read a hell of a lot of sci-fi. My missus, who doesn't, just refused to accept the possibility that any of it could happen and fell asleep after an hour.

Then yesterday afternoon we went to the cinema and saw Nowhere Boy, I hadn't intended seeing it but the missus loves The Beatles so I (reluctantly) went along with it. Very good, some great performances and a very interesting look into the early life of Mr Lennon. The cinema was ok, we were in the smallest screen, only seats 73 (yes, I counted as did the male half of the other couple in there!), the picture was good, very crisp, but suffered from a distinct lack of contrast, wasn't sure what to put that down to.

Lol, here is a proper review. Bruce Willis has to escort a prisoner 16 Blocks through NYC (?) to court. The witness is part of a police corruption case and so Bruce ends up with a fight on his hands. It has scenes in it that remind me of 24 Hours, Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon. There is a great twist at the end as well. But, it is a Bruce Willis thriller, so don't expect too much.

Just finished watching the brilliant film "Boy in the stripped pyjamas". What a fantastic film, I would highly recommend everyone to watch it. The acting by all the characters is first class, story line is great, and the conclusion is just breathtaking.

Watch this film.
