Tweekend Advance by The Crystal Method.
Proper kick-bottom electronica, with awesome production quality- fantastic test disc (as anything by T.C.M seems to be...), with deep, solid basslines, fat funky beats and plenty of (never harsh) sparkly top end.
If you like your dance music, check these guys out and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I've had one of their albums permanently residing in my CD player for about a month now...
It has taken the mantle from Talvin Singh's 'Ha' -incidentally, track 9 (Sea Breeze), has one of the most messed-up, frantic beats and bassline you're likely to hear. If your system makes a good fist of this track then you've cracked it- I've heard this tune absolutely mangled by expensive, otherwise fine-sounding kit. Any hint of slowness or drag in the low registers and you've had it. I reckon What HiFi should test every piece of kit using this track, I've heard nothing like it!

The Alan Parsons Project - `The Turn Of A Friendly Card` (cd)
The Alan Parsons Project - `Pyramid` (cd)
The Alan Parsons Project - `Eye In The Sky` (cd)
I`d say the above four albums are my favourites by The Alan Parsons Project. You do need to have a good listen all the way through to find the gems such as `Old And Wise` and `Silence And I` (Eye In The Sky) and `Shadow Of A Lonely Man` (Pyramid). The rest is good but the above songs in particular shine very brightly indeed.

I still think 'Tales...' is the best AP album, and by some margin. I don't think any of the others quite capture the quality and atmosphere of that first album. Its a truly brilliant piece of work IMO.

No matter how many times I hear this, I never get fed up of it. It is just an incredible album. Every song is a classic and Elliott Mazer's production was perfect for BJH.

Hi Matthew, you still seem to be really enjoying your music which is great! `Tales` is indeed the best album as a collective piece of work. I cherry picked the three songs I did from the other albums as I feel these wouldn`t be bad starter points for someone who`d never heard of The Alan Parsons Project and would highly recommend downloading those tracks. `Tales` is of course very highly recommended though the definitive version will set you back a few quid and you need to put aside an hour or so to give it a good listen on the headphones.
I see you`ve been listening to some Fairport. Don`t know about you but I especially like to listen to folk when the weather`s good?! All the best to you Matthew.

Hi Survivor. I'm a big fan of Fairport, particularly the earlier stuff. I love 'Liege & Lief'. Sandy's voice is beautiful throughout and when you've got people of the calibre of Richard Thompson and Swarb in the band its not surprising they made such superb music. I've seen the current band live a couple of times - enjoyed the first gig, not so struck on the second. At the second one it seemed like they were racing through everything to see how fast Sanders could play, and the sound wasn't right. Great band though.
I am really enjoying the music still. Its one of my greatest pleasures. I originally had 'Tales...' on vinyl, given to me by my Dad and listened to it endlessly as a teenager. A few years ago I bought the original CD release but always found it slightly anemic sounding. I've now got the 'Deluxe Edition' remaster with the original and re-mixed versions on and I really enjoy it again. Sounds much more like the vinyl used to! Its a superb album and I particularly love 'The Cask of Amontillado' and 'The Fall of the House of Usher'. I'm a big fan of Poe's writing as well, which probably helps.
