Really impressed with the new Mastodon album.

The other one here is 'Diagonal' by Diagonal, a newish prog band. It is absolutely incredible stuff. Listened to it 3 times now and enjoy it even more each time.

A wonderful recording of a great British pianist in Liszt's masterpiece. There are many fine recordings of the Sonata, but for me, Curzon's is the most powerful.

Nice one!

I remember our neighbours being really noisy when I was young, and Dad ending up playing 'Hair Of The Dog' by Nazareth at full blast. It certainly shut them up!

My 'weapon' is a Roland RD700SX plugged into a 200W Hartke keyboard amp. Never had to use it in battle yet but given how loud it sounds on stage it could prove useful one day!!

Currently watching this:

An incredible band. Jordan Rudess is one of the my keyboard playing heroes but I just think the whole band are superb musicians. Mike Portnoy is sensational. Really like his work in Transatlantic as well. Debating whether I can get to Leeds to see them live in the summer.

Now watching this wonderful DVD:

Pretty much every Strawbs line-up plays on this, a concert celebrating the band's 30th anniversary in 1998. 10 years on, the band are preparing for their 40th anniversary celebration weekend later this year and they are more active than ever in both electric and acoustic forms.

Back onto the new Mastodon album. It's a grower. I'm liking it more each time I hear it.

Also listening to Martin Grech - Open Heart Zoo.

Can't hack the Zappa for long, but its fun for a while!

A great live CD of John Lees' Barclay James Harvest from 1999. Going to see them in less than 2 weeks at a special fan's gig, and then again at the 'Memories of Woodstock' festival in August where they're performing with the National Symphony Orchestra. Other acts billed that night include Strawbs and Jethro Tull - a pretty impressive line-up!!

Finishing tonight with a few tracks from Strawbs, Live At Nearfest 2004. Its the Hero & Heroine line-up of Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert, John Hawken, Chas Cronks and Rod Commbes. Saw this line-up a couple of years ago and they were incredible. Hawken has recently retired and has been replaced by Oliver Wakeman on keyboards, whose more famous dad Rick was in the band a long time ago!
