Disappointed with both of these albums after all the hype. The Lana Del Rey is just too samey all the way through and I don't find her voice particulalry attractive. Emeli Sande has a really strong voice but the material is pretty second rate to these ears. Shame.

A nostalgic morning playing Tamla Motown. Something I was into when I was between 13 & 16 years old. I cannot remember anyone posting any Motown on here although most people would be too young to remember which is perhaps why. One or two of you may have fond memories of some of the following I played.

Jimmy Ruffin. What becomes of the broken hearted.
Marvin Gaye & Kim Weston. It takes two.
The Marvelettes. When you’re young and in love.
Isley Brothers. Behind the painted smile.
Four Tops. 7 Rooms of gloom.
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell. (24 when she died) You’re all I need to get by.
The Elgins. Put yourself in my place & Heaven must have sent you.
Marvin Johnson. I’ll pick a rose for my rose.
R Dean Taylor. I gotta see Jane & Indiana wants me.
I couldn’t find The Isley Brothers Summer Breeze.
I’d guess Clare might like some Motown

Not all of us.

Reminds me of the youth club I used to go to. No chance of getting Deep Purple or Sabbath played, always Motown. Hated it at the time, now I've gone full circle over the intervening years and can really appreciate lots of TM. My wife loves it all, she often plays this compilation..

(Disc 3 is a bit weak, mainly later stuff, when the magic was fading somewhat)
