If you like Sigur Ros, try Sweden's Immanu El. Melodic dreamscapes with power and energy but still very relaxing.

I love Sigur Ros so cheers for the tip-off Ian, I'll pop over to Spotify for a listen.

Thanks to Spotibot and there being little Tortoise on Spotify, I did a search and wow, what a thriving post rock instrumental scene there is in the US. Along with The Album Leaf, Foxhole and Tristeza, Saxon Shore and Unwed Sailor make fabulous, beautiful music that you can get lost in. Post rock instrumental from the US is the new Scandinavian Prog Rock.

American post rock from Maserati who come from Athens, Georgia (same as REM) and Mice Parade from NYC. Maserati have quite a rock guitar sound, Mice Parade are more improv jazz. Both are excellent.

One of my favourite discs. Early 20th century Paris was one great big cultural melting pot and Milhaud's 'La Creation du Monde' one of its mostly beautifully formed products. The performances and recording quality are exceptional.
