Wild Beasts - Two Dancers

Discovered just yesterday - absolutely spectacular

Just had on..

Icicle Works - Chop the Tree: forgotten how good this album was, with blistering drumming

Return to Forever - The Anthology: great remasters and awesome playing. Shame I missed them at the O2

Mozart Symphonies 38 - 41 by the SCO under Mackerras on Linn records - BBC record of the year last year

It's Neil for me also. Live At The Riverboat, and then it's a programme of vinyl. Planning to start with REM's Reckoning and we'll see where that leads.

Just re-discovered some great reggae 12in singles purchased from Leeds market about ten years ago, so would like to give them a blast.

On 'White Man' now. Brilliant. One of Queen's best songs of all IMO.

'Day At The Races' stills hits me hard after all these years of listening to it. It actually sounds much fresher than some of the later Queen albums. The songwriting is so original and Freddie sang with such total conviction on those early albums.

Superb.

matthew piano - how do you like your mezzo 2's ? did you audition others at the price ? why choose them, im looking at that price range myself at the mo

I've had them for a while now and I love them. I tried the B&W 685s, and Dali Ikon 1s, and I've previously had Quad 11Ls as well. What I love about the Mezzos is amount of attack and pace you get. They are very exciting speakers. With my previous amp (Cambridge Audio 740A) they could ocasionally sound a little 'white' tonally, but with something slightly warmer like the TEAC or an Arcam Alpha 8 they strike a pretty much perfect balance. They've got the best tweeter I've ever heard and sound superb with a massive range of music from big orchestral pieces to acoustic folk, and from Miles Davis to progressive rock. Well worth auditioning IMO. The B&W 685s are also excellent speakers but not as pacey or exciting as the Mezzos, and the tweeter isn't in the same class IMO. Again personal audition is the only way to be really sure.

thanks for the input. do you think they would be a touch bright in my system ? i plan to audition anyway. i love the ms soundstage and detail, i used to have the ms 902i's and couldnt believe what they were pumping out at the price i paid - that was also a ca combo. i could have had some new for £289 the other week. i might still be able to

I think they might work rather well with your Rotel kit actually. Well worth a try, particularly if (like me) you like the MS sound (I also have a pair of 902is tucked away and have had 914is in the past as well).

Oh, and they are very easy to drive as well.
