what addition first - cartridge or phono stage?

Currently just playing a Technics 1210 Mk2 through my 875. I've got an original rubber platter mat now which is good.

Budget is tight for now (£80) - so, what do I add first to get the biggest initial improvement:

1) Cambridge Audio 640p

or

2) Ortofon 2M Red Cartridge?

Can't afford to upgrade the arm as yet - that's for next years bonus 🙂

Two questions - what's the current cartridge on the arm and why specifically the 2M Red? In the latter case, is it because people have recommended it, have you considered others and what sound do you like? Am assuming budget is around £60 as a result (given the price of each item)?
