I'm not familiar with Valdus. However, I have extensive knowledge of a number of Wharfedales. All I can add is the brand produced some real stonkers and other models were just party animals. Not sure which bracket these ones fall into.
The Valdus 400 was a party speaker. A big box for not a lot of money (about £100 retail) that went relatively loud. The tweeter isn't the most refined, so they were sort of 'edgy', particularly at higher volumes. Their bass is quite hard (rather than the soft warm bass of the Modus range) and not particularly deep. Good value for money for those that need a party speaker, but beware of their impedance - something stable like an 8000A is needed to push them.
