Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 or Yamaha NS-777

I am looking for tower speakers on the aftermarket and I am rather limited in my options. These two have been seemed as great options, but I have no idea how they compare.

I am looking to pair them with sony str-dn1080 for listening to rock and classical music, but also casually for movie nights. Also, there is a wharfedale opus 1 option out there, what do you think of that?
Possibly also adding a subwoofer later on, if necessary.

Pardon me if I don't know what other information I should provide. Being very inexperienced in the field and buying my first proper set, coming from jbl lsr305, any advice is welcome.

I would pick Wharfedale over Yamaha speakers without hesitation.

My experience of Yamaha speakers has been quite negative. They have either sounded generally poor and quite harsh to mediocre. I'm sure there are exceptions.

I currently own a pair of Diamond 11.4s and very much enjoy them.

I think most people would consider Wharfedale Diamonds to be good all-rounders and non offensive.

That is very interesting and very welcome opinion! Exactly what I was looking to hear.
But I suppose you have no experience with Opus 1?
