All,

What's the best way to connect my iPod to my car stereo? The stereo in my car doesn't have an aux input or a usb input, so I presume I would need a radio transmitter type to enable me to listen to my iPod while driving.

If so, what's the best one to get for sound quality and reliability of transmission.

Cheers,

Peter

In the past I used a Belkin casseette adaptor, which was awful. I now use a Griffin itrip transmitter and it is better. I am lucky as the FM signals round where I live are not jammed full, so the itrip is able to get a good clear signal. As for sound quality, it is like listening to the radio, so not the greatest. I have not heard any others to make a comparison. I bought the Griffin due to price and good ratings on Amazon.

It also depends on your car headunit. If its an after-market one, you may be able to buy a cheap cable which plugs into the 'cd changer' port at the rear of the headunit and the other end goes into your Ipod. See link for an example. I have a Kenwood one and it works perfectly - perfect sound and it charges the ipod.

Personally, if you are looking to use the iPod regularly it may be worth spending a bit more and replacing the head unit with one that is iPod ready....
