Hi I have just purchased some q acoustics 1010i for my home cinema. I want to mount the rear two on the wall but the dedicated wall brackets for them have been discountinued. Can anyone recommend an alternative?.

amarocknrollstar:Hey Gazza J.

Been searching tinternet but to no avail.
Have you tried contacting Q Accoustics direct?Yes they were the ones that told me they had been discountinued. I have even looked on ebay. Thanks for looking for me I also spent ages trying to find somewhere that had them.

The Home Cinema Centre have some and do free UK delivery.

EDIT - Sorry they have 2010 brackets not 1010 - apologies for the mixup.

I don't think you will have much luck in finding any, because I wanted some the other day, as I have changed my setup from a 5.1 to a 6.1 system.

I ended up going to a builders merchant and buying some heavy duty joist brackets and fitted these. They work fine as long as you do not won't to angle the speakers up or down.

Cheers I do want to swivel and tilt them. Can't believe they have stopped making them because a lot of retailers still have the speakers in stock.

topheruk:I thought the 2010i brackets fitted the 1010i?

Wouldn't have thought so - the new 20 range have a clever bottom plate arrangement to hide wires 'n' stuff, don't think the 10s did.

Has anyone got any other suggestions on mounting the two rear 1010i's on the wall?.

Gazza,

I'm really sorry to hear you are having problems getting brackets for your 1010i's, i was fortunate and managed to plan ahead as i was thinking of going to 7.1 from 5.1 and bought the brackets when i saw them 'just in case'. Of course i went with 7.1 after buying the brackets so don't get your hopes up that i will sell them lol.

I do have a suggestion though....from looking at the design of the 1010i bracket i can see no reason why you couldn't get some made for you buy a reputable mealworkers. I have several around my way (essex) and after a few enquiries they were happy to make up a set from my brackets design, now i realise you won't have a bracket yourself but a picture and dimensions would be enough to enable you to have a set made for you.

As for cost well they will cost you more than buying them at retail but certainly not over the top, i would estimate around £20-£30 maximum to get them made for you.

I can't see you have any real alternative as the 2010 bracket will not fit due to the new range having the binding posts in a different position and the fact that i, like you, can't find a single pair of brackets for sale anywhere on the net. You could try advertising of course but i doubt you would get much luck due to the nature of the product...i can't see the brackets being widely used.

You must be really frustrated and i can totally understand your pain so if there is anything else i can do to help just post on this thread and i will endeavour to help as much as i can, could provide pics and dimensions for example (hope this dosen't break house rules!)

Thank you Oldboy for taking the time with your reply. I am now going to try and use stands for the rears. I currently have the jamo's on stands and have just ordered some Atacama Nexus 7i stands for the fronts. If the bases of the stand fit where my stands are currently I will order some Nexus 10i. If this doesn't work I will try your suggestion. They should arrive by tuesday so I will update then. One retailer I contacted said they could sell hundreds of the brackets if they were still made, a bit of an oversight by Q Acoustics I think. Thank you again for your help.

gazza,

Good luck with your stands and i hope they work out for you, i look forward to an update! I'm not atall suprised to hear that retailers could sell shed loads of brackets now that the package is widely available for £350 or less....but when i purchased at full price the brackets were widely available too so it's not all good news when you bag a bargain.

That comment does make me wonder if QA may do another limited run of brackets etc if they had enough demand?

Hi I thought I would update. I have now got the Atacama nexus 7I stands for my front speakers. They sound great much better than the jamo's, so I will be getting the taller 10i's for the rears. Not ideal as I did want to wall mount them but at it will have to do. Just got to replace the centre going to get the later version the 2000. Would this be a better choice or should I get the 1000?.

Hello again,

Good news about the stands, great to hear you are happy with them! Hope you get the rears soon.

As for your question about the centre speaker, the ideal solution would be the 1000ci imo. It's never ideal mixing different speakers as integration suffers ie one set will have different sonic characteristics to the other. If the 1000ci is not available then i would say get the 2000 but only if the 1000 is unavailable when you purchase (a quick search shows they are still available at the moment).

I have my 1000ci wall mounted under my tv and it really made a difference getting it off my av rack, the clarity and bass of vocals really improved....just something to think about if it's possible for you.

All the best, look forward to the next update

i really dont know if the 1000 will be much different to the 2000.they seem to be both rear ported, unlike the mains wich are fron on the 1000 and rear on the 2000

That's true enough...i would just rather keep all the speakers the same personally. Perhaps a quick call to QA for the OP would clarify it's suitability? I can't see there being a huge difference between the two it's just i'm always cautious when it comes to mixing speakers...perhaps too cautious lol.

Hi just had an email from Q Acoustics technical department who say the 2000 centre will work perfectly with the 1010i's, but the good news is the sender thinks a new batch of the wall brackets might be made due to high demand!. He promised to keep me informed with any news. Will do the same here if and when I here anything.

Excellent news regarding the centre!! And it seems i had a premanition then regarding the brackets....i knew demand was high for them due to the price cut but that's excellent news for alot of people i would've thought.

Hi I mamaged to find a 1000i centre at leicester HiFi sounds great much better than the jamo's. Think they might have a couple left if anyone is searching for one. Should I change the sub as well now?

Very, very well done on sourcing a 1000i centre! As for the sub what have you got at the moment and what are you looking to upgrade too??

Still using the one from the Jamo set.Only thought about getting a Q Acoustics one eventully, can't really justify spending any more at the minute.

Well if you are happy with the sound of the Jamo sub and it is integrating properly then i wouldn't be in too much of a rush to replace it! You will get better bass extension and probably more bang for your bucks with a new sub (the Q Acoustics 1000si can go very loud) although i haven't heard the Jamo sub yet. I would just put it on your list of things to replace and wait for a bargain to turn up if cost is the major factor....
