using 2 integrated amps together

Can I use my Marantz sr6009( 110 watts per channel) which has hdmi and pre outs with my old SONY STR-DA5000ES as an amp which doesnt have hdmi but has at least 170 watts per channel and awesome sound ? The Marantz is good sound and has a great video but the Sony is great sound but unfortunately doesnt have hdmi . So, to make my intentions clear, I want the Marantz to do the pre-amp controlling and the sound from the Sony .

Thanks

Should be doable, using three pairs of interconnects from the preouts on the Marantz to one of the Sony's two sets of multichannel inpits. Select Multichannel Direct 1 or 2, depending on which set of inputs you use, on the Sony, and you should be in business.

I'd go easy on the volume level on the Marantz, so you don't overload the inputs on the Sony, and use the Sony for volume control when using the two together in this manner. In other words, use the Marantz as a processor, and the Sony as a power amp. Set all the speaker calibrations on the Sony to flat, and set up your speaker distances and delays on the Marantz, or vice versa, otherwise you'll have two sets of delays, etc, fighting each other.
